Leading wholesaler of Industrial Tools & Equipment in South Africa is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Executive to take the company into the next generation of delivering hardworking tools to their customers. Management of Marketing and Product Budgets, Pricing and Reports:
Achieve and exceed target turnover
Maintain and exceed GP % & Rands banked
Successsful launch of new products, increasing the ratio of sales of new products as a % of total sales
Maintain Marketing spend within budget
Achieve forecast unit sales
Maintain stock turn and inventory days
Monitor the accuracy of Contract Price List and maintain margins in line with company policy
Collaborate with Sales team to design pricing strategies to maximise profit and market share while balancing satisfaction
Responsible for setting pricing bands aligned toe portfolio strategy
Calculate the product profitability and ROI and suggest corrective action as required
Track campaigns success by compiling and submitting relevant reports to key stakeholders. Use insights learnt for future campaigns
Effective Implementation of the Marketing and Marketing Product strategy:
Develops strategy through the situational analysis on the industry, category, economy and competitors to identify trends, growth opportunities and business and regulatory risks and recommend actions
Strategic planning for Marketing activities
New Product Planning
Coordinate the creating and updating product manual for sales training
Drive and enable product sales training during new product launches.
Ensure Category Manager train by Co-travelling with sales team according to call cycle
Mediate product availability issue and work with Supply Chain to ensure that all logistics are resolved
Define product mix (price, quantity, margin and growth)
Ensure Category Managers are forecasting as per SOP and follow up on results
Provide in-store merchandise support by ensuring the best product presentation in stores
Drive the team to serve as spokesperson and ensure communication with all stakeholders on product
Provide support on packaging by obtaining product related information such as technical specifications and FABS
Ensure that all display stands are in stock, forecast and coordinate with Sales & Category Managers
Coordinate with external agencies, government to get requisite licenses/approvals such as SABS etc. and patents if required
Organize company conferences, trade shows and major events.
Produce valuable content for the company’s online presence, editorial design and organize the company’s publications
Manage brand identity and positioning:
Maintain a clear message and a consistent brand image across all media
Responsible for marketing of company corporate identity, both internally and externally, e.g. website etc.
Building brand awareness and positioning
Develop the marketing strategy, by brand, in the line with company objectives
Review positioning of brands to ensure they are relevant to the customers
Maintain and improve the company’s online B2B platforms and number of transactions and content
Responsible for managing website/social media content and ensuring it is kept up to date
Plan and coordinate the maintenance and development of all catalogues
Liaise with lawyers ensuring trademarks and brands are registered
Manage customer/supplier relationships and communication:
Be the person who understands the customer’s journey from end to end. Be able to interact with all stakeholders in a professional manner.
Conduct customer surveys
Custodian of all marketing communication to customers via all platforms
Custodian of all communication to Sales staff via all platforms
Negotiate with and build relationships with suppliers. Design buying and planning strategies regarding supplier’s alliances
Ensure the efficient negotiation, establishment and maintenance of service levels by planning and buying managers. Deal with escalated supplier queries and problems
Build relationships with top customers and adhere to the call cycle
Ensure that the database is accurate and relevant
Manage head counts with agreed budgets.
Achieve Employment Equity targets
Maintain effective leave planning and absenteeism management
Facilitate training and development interventions
Review performance in discussion with employees, agree ratings and set goals for new period.
Continuously communicate and provide constructive feedback and coaching to employees
Take disciplinary action where required
Develop formal succession plan for key positions
Relevant Marketing degree/diploma (B Comm. IMM GSM etc.)
Proven track record with progression within a company
5 -10 years’ Product Marketing experience of which at least 3 years’ must be in a position of managing Product Managers. (Preferable Hand Tool Industry experience).
Experience in a B2B Marketing environment preferable.
Must have a valid code 08 driver’s license and own reliable transport
